Serving Others

On the eve of Thanksgiving, my daughter and I, had the wonderful opportunity to serve with Good News Partners. I believe serving others helps me be a better version of me. I think it also shines a light into how I am uniquely wired.

I remember many years ago my daughter, same daughter, and I had the great opportunity to travel to Costa Rica to serve with Globe Aware. As we interacted with the area, vacationed and served, helped at a school and helped with a community center, my daughter looked around and saw the animals, dogs roam free. She was frightened that they would be hit by vehicles, and was saddened that they didn’t have homes to go into. I looked around and I noticed the children. I was drawn to the children, in a similar way she was drawn to the animals and the wildlife. We both appreciated the people, their hearts we so full and their hospitality to show us their amazing country was memorable.

However, it was through serving then, serving this past Wednesday, and serving in general, that helps me view myself more clearly. What speaks to your heart? What motivates you and draws you in?? What calls you to action? My hope is that you find it and celebrate it this holiday season!
